This will be a quick post from my iPhone, as this town no longer has any coffee shops with working wifi, or at least none that I know of. (FYI - my parents are tecnological dinosaurs who don't have a computer or the Internet.) Anyway, today I needed to do some stuff online, so I had to huddle in a Boston Pizza parking lot and scam their wifi. It wasn't conducive to blogging, however.
Anyhow, I've been having a very nice holiday so far. I was spoiled rotten in the present department by my friends, Jason, and my parents. I got Mindy Kaling's (Kelly from The Office) book from Jason, and I read in less than 24 hours. It was hilarious, and I could totally write a post about its brilliance, and how much I have in common with her. My parents got me some new running threads from lululemon, and I've worn them for one very long run, and a short post-yoga run. In addition, they got me lots of other little things, including a three-pack of super warm socks from Ducks Unlimited. They have ducks on them, and some of their proceeds go to saving wetlands, so not only are my feet warmed, my duck-loving heart is as well. My dad got me an imitation Snuggy from Giant Tiger (you can imagine the quality). However, this joke gift has come in handy, as I've been spending a lot of my holiday curled up and reading.
I've been doing a lot of reading because I got my dad Stephen King's latest tome "11/22/63" as a gift. I decided that I wanted to read it before going back to Toronto... Goodness knows I don't want to carry that 850 page hardcover with me. (I ordered it online, so it was shipped here directly.) I started it on Christmas Day, and I've valiantly made it to page 700. I'll definitely get it done in time. It's really quite good. I haven't read anything by Stephen King in years. I forgot what a good writer he can be. I highly recommend this book as well. I'll blog more about it later.
I did get out today to do a bit of boxing week shopping. I actually managed to score a pair of cute boots at the mall. Another tradition of mine is to buy a book or two at Fanfare Books. Every year, this local bookstore has a 20% off all books sale. I picked up "The Tiger's Wife" and "The Hunger Games". I've heard good things about both.
Tomorrow afternoon is my high school friends' (Go9) annual Christmas get together. It should be fun. Then, I've got an early train back to Toronto on Friday morning. I'm hoping to get some of my year end posts (fave albums, fave books) when I'm back home.
Hope you all had a nice Christmas!

Your old stomping grounds (Mickey D's) has free wi-fi... just in case BP gets old.
Christa
I keep seeing "the Tiger's Wife" and I'm intrigued. You will have to let me know how it is - I got a Kobo gift card for Christmas so I have some books coming to me.
I can't believe you have read 700 pages of a book in the last couple of days! I used to read him when I was younger. Brad's favorite book of his is Tommyknockers, he just finished it and seemed to really enjoy it once again.
Christa beat me to it, but a lot of McDonald's have free wi-fi these days. Part of their big corporate shift from "in and out in thirty minutes" to "come in, stay a while."
But if you look around, it seems that lotsa places have free wi-fi now. Bars and such. Not just hoidy-toidy coffee places anymore.
The Hunger Games is awesome. Genuine brilliance. I'm so glad you've had a fun break at home.
Sounds great - and I quite liked the Tigers Wife but I know others found it unsatisfying so hope you are more like me than them with it!
Haha I also got a snuggie! It's like we're 500 years old :P
