You see the good in everyone.

Twitter is good for concert-ing news.

I already knew that Sloan (along with The Rural Alberta Advantage, Ohbijou, and Bonjay) were playing a benefit show next Wednesday and I was intrigued. After all, it was only $20, was for charity, plus I love Sloan, and Ohbijou's album is one of my favourites of the year. And I did enjoy the RAA when I saw them at Hillside.

But it was a school night. And I've seen Sloan many, many times. Twice already in 2011. And, I'm going to a show the night before.

This evening, I saw on Twitter that Sloan was going to play the entirety of their 1996 album "One Chord to Another". And there were only a few tickets left.

I've never seen a band play a whole album before. The Weakerthans have been doing it, but in Winnipeg, San Francisco, and NYC, and not during the summer, so I haven't been able to go. (You know that if it was the summer, I'd go.) I think Weezer did it too with the Blue Album and Pinkerton.

Anyway, OCTA would be up there with albums I'd like to see played live in their entirety, so that's what I'll be doing next Wednesday. I'm psyched.

Blog Discussion - What album would you like to see played live in its entirety?

I would love to hear Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders fom Mars, Nighthawks at the Diner and From the Choirgirl Hotel live.
I haven't been to a concert in such a long time, especially one on a school night! It will be worth it though!

Jabba's got the right idea. Stole my thunder on that one. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars is obviously the greatest thing to happen to human ears. It also opens and closes nicely to make playing the album start to finish workable for a concert.

I have heard an entire album performed live, The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway, not by Genesis though. Only by The Musical Box. Probably better that way actually. I've heard that Genesis didn't really have their heart in that tour back in the day. The Lamb is one of those double LPs that tells a story. Like The Wall which my father saw performed by Roger Waters. He said it was a great show.

I know Rush has done side A of 2112 a few times years after the original 2112 tour.

Abbey Road by The Beatles was originally intended to be performed and recorded live in one shot by the band but it never worked out. If you can track down a copy of the Let It Be movie, you'll see why.

I can't think of anything better than Ziggy, but just to add a suggestion, I'll suggest MeatLoaf's Bat Out of Hell. It's kinda short, but it's a very big and operatic for being kinda short. Or The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion by The Black Crowes. That album's a good ride.

oh, one chord in it's entirety would be great. my first sloan show was in support of that album. that was a really really long time ago. off the top of my head, i'd love to hear twice removed front to back, or shakespeare by lotl, ok computer, star by belly, and funeral by arcade fire.

I think my first choice would be to hear The Who's "Quadrophenia" live, only if you can resurrect Keith Moon and John Entwistle. I wouldn't mine seeing David Bowie doing any of his classic albums, but Ziggy would be the favorite because Mick Ronson (lead guitarist of the Spiders) is a hero of mine. For something a bit more contemporary (barely) and obscure, I'd like to see Grandaddy reunite and play their album "The Sophtware Slump". I'd even wear an ironic trucker/farmer cap for that concert.

I saw Daydream Nation performed in its entirety. That was pretty cool. I think I would possibly like to see In Rainbows by Radiohead as well. I'm not sure about what else though. I'm sure once I submit this though that I will think of LOADS!
