But I miss Prairie nights and northern lights.

Last week kicked my ass.

Getting back to work with many deadlines to meet, and the never-ending piles of marking was tough. I feel a bit better than I did a week ago at this time, but I'm looking forward to getting this semester done. Fresh start please. We have two more weeks of classes, then exam week, then it's a new semester with fresh faces and different things to teach.

Also, I had a really great evening with Becca T on Wednesday. She had a whirlwind trip back to North America over the holidays, and was briefly in Toronto, and I was glad to get to see her. It felt like she was back living in Toronto because we did our usual things - go out for sushi, Starbucks, listen to music, play board games, and chit chat. It looks like my trip to visit her in Paris over the March Break is a GO! and it might include a side trip to Geneva too. Another thing I'd like to do is give Becca T a break from me, and maybe take the train to little French town and spend the night on my own. I'll have to go to Indigo and hit up France travel guides to see if that's a possibility. Anyway, I am EXCITED and will keep you guys updated as I plan.

We stayed up late, of course, and I think that late night exhausted me for the weekend. Toronto was under an extreme cold alert, so Jason and I spent a lot of time hibernating. We watched 9 episodes of Parks N Rec, this week's 30 Rock, Up All Night, lots of old Simpsons, SNL (I fell alseep during that), and goodness knows what else. We also made a yummy beef stew on Saturday evening (we had to venture out in the cold to get the ingredients), and I baked cookies from a mix that I got for Christmas. Anyway, it was a lovely hibernation. I think I needed it after the shock of holidays ending.

After a lazy morning/mid-afternoon, I went to the gym and put in a good run. Then, I came home and read and marked, and now I'm going to read again. The Night Circus is due back tomorrow, and I've read 70% of it. I am still enjoying it immensely. It's a "Best Bets" book from TPL, which means you get it for a week, can't renew it, and if it's overdue, it's a $1.00 per day. I think if I read 50 pages tonight, then I can go to the library tomorrow after school, find a comfy chair, then finish it off. I'm totally into the library these days.

Well, that's that. It'll be another busy work week, and then it's Los Campesinos! weekend. WOOT! Happy week to all.

Paris? That sounds great!! That must be cool to have such a close friend who lives far away that you go visit all the time. I have a really close friend but she's in New Zealand. That's a pretty big trip, so I haven't made it yet....

I just did a post about how I hibernated today, you guys were much more productive than me.....

I also decided to abandon the two holds I have at the library now, I picked up another book in the meantime and don't want to fall into that trap again. I like the idea of finishing the book off AT the library!

I have so many things to say about this post:

1. You are going back to Paris?!?! I'm extremely jealous. Can you please send me a postcard? That would make my day :) I'll send you one from Poland in the summer. I'm totally excited to read about your planning.

2. Also- cold alerts- does that mean you officially get off work and can do nothing? Or is it one of those things that you get judged less when you do nothing? Not that I think one should ever be judged for doing nothing.

3. Additionally, Parks and Rec and 30 Rock are the best. Ever.

4. I was just thinking about my library fines, haha. I owe $6.20 because I forgot to return a movie for awhile, which has the steep $1.00/day fine. But books only have 20 cents a day, I'm surprised your books are also so steep! I would owe the library hundreds of dollars, I think. Secret: sometimes when you beg (and beg and beg) the librarian to let you renew it once more (even after you've renewed it the max number of times), they'll let you. Not always. And I don't think it'll work for a "Best Bets." ;) Also I guess it's not good to depend on that. Can you tell I have many unresolved issues with the library?

Your Paris plans sound incredibly exciting!

I think last week kicked most people's ass. I'm glad you got to hibernate though, and see Becca T.

Paris sounds like it's shaping up well! I'm so hoping to pop over and say hey to y'all (funds permitting - may be about to make a BIG purchase). Hope this week is fab, and a little gentler!

Maybe have your France solo trip up to Dieppe and view the monuments to Canada.
Or Bayeux and see that 70+ metre tapestry about the Norman invasion.
And take lots of photos. So as to save me a trip to France.

I LOVE hibernating in the winter! I still go to the gym and do the necessary things but sitting in sweats drinking tea and reading is delightful!
