Fun words are fun. Indeed. Thanks for the comments on the last post. I laughed and I need it.
Today's fluffy topic is misheard song lyrics. I have three examples that I just cannot remember to hear correctly even though I have learned the real words. Oh, and you know I sing my wrong lyrics loudly and embarassingly.
Example #1: Avalanche by Matthew Good
Christielli hears: "Avalanche started Saturday."
Real lyric: "Avalanche start inside of me."
Example #2: Rattlenakes by Tori Amos (A cover song of a Lloyd Cole and the Commotions song. I've never heard the original. Okay that wasn't really relevant to me mishearing the lyrics but whatever.)
Christielli hears: "She's oblivious to spiders."
Real lyric: "She's oblivious despite herself."
Example #3: Learn to Fly by Foo Fighters
Christielli hears: "I'm looking to the sky to save me. I'm looking for a satellite."
Real lyric: "I'm looking to the sky to save me. I'm looking for a sign of life."
I believe my pal Becksley really made fun of me for example #3. We had a tradition where we would title emails with song lyrics and well, I typed out the wrong lyric which caused much amusement for her.
Anyone else wanna fess up to misheard lyrics?
Bonus Chemistry Joke that I heard last night and that you know I'm going to use through my entire teaching career: A bar of gold walks into a bar. The bartender says "A u, get out of here!"
ps Props go out to my friend Teresa who never reads my blog but who is a great person to call when you need a favour. She answers the phone like she was sitting there waiting for you to call and ask her to do something really important. Again, I'm pretty sure I earned an insanely large amount of good karma in my last life to end up with friends like I have now.

I like misheard lyrics. They are sometimes better..MY mom had a weird one- It was from lady Madonna by the Beatles.
She thought that paul said'Knee deep in doughnuts..baby at your breast wonders how you manage to feed the rest
We know it as lady madonna baby at your breast...etc
shoot, when put on the spot i can't think of any, at least not off the top of my head. i know i have quite a few.
oh wait, the nerd in me just remembered:
there's part of the Mozart Requiem where I'm sure the chorus says, "Drink Pepsi."
awesome friends are the best. hope things are looking up for you.

My friend Ed would go on and on about a cheesey disco track called 'Boogie with your gran' and we'd all be like "Wha....?"
Fast-forward to a friend's birthday party, and the floorfiller "Boogie Wonderland" came on.
Yep, Ed had misheard.

Teardrop by Massive Attack
The first line is: Love, love is a verb
I always hear: Blah, blah emotion.
LOL
Christy,
Its not your last life that you earned the good karma in, its this life. Do you realize that everytime I post a comment on your blog you email me to THANK ME?! You deserve every one of the good friends you have because you are a good friend yourself.
Your entry made me laugh out loud at work. I have a GREAT wrong lyric for you from a WEAKERTHANS song. I think its the song Pamphleteer.. it says something like "Waiting for my next communique" (I still don't know if that's even right), I was singing "Waiting for my next career move".. which totally makes more sense if you think about it.
Becksley
Who doesn't love good periodic humour? Ahh puns are just too easy. But my brain's fried, nothing for ya on the lyrics.
lol, awesome topic.:)
I know lots of them, but right now, only one comes to mind and that is CCR's song Bad Moon Rising.
Actual lyric: "There's a bad moon on the rise"
What it sounds like: "There's a bathroom on the right"
I laugh whenever I hear that song, it makes me smile. :)
The last line of Steve Millers song 'The Joker' had me completely stumped until quite recently.
Some people call me the space cowboy, yeah
Some call me the gangster of love
Some people call me Maurice
Then .. mutter mutter..something about loving a hippo?
When I found out the last line read Cause I speak of the pompitous of love I realised I perferred my hippopotamus version.
I can't think of any that I have off the top of my head, but I do remeber on of Sandee's.....
Brian Adams says something like: I bought my first six string
Sandee hears: I had my first sex dream
I think of that every time I hear that song....
Your friend from Slabtown
I was just thinking about the one anoyomus mentioned. I had another one that I heard on the radio once but I can't remember the song so it really dosen't do any good with out it
