Today I got the news about a former colleague's passing.  It was someone who taught at my school at the beginning of my career there, yet whom I always have spoken highly of long since they left my school, and who I truly enjoyed having as a colleague.  I felt really sad when I heard of it this morning, and it was tough to get through the day pretending everything was okay.

I realize it's amazing the number of people whose lives will intersect with mine throughout my career.  I feel like I've been so lucky to work with so many amazing people, even if it is only for a few weeks, months, or years.  I guess it's important to let everyone know how much they mean to you, because you never know when or if you'll get that chance again.
