Easter Sunday. Went to church with my aunt. Afterwards, went for lunch with my aunt and MR who was also at mass. Didn't see her last night since our plans fell through. Gave her the booties and hat that I knit for her baby. I made them from a nice light purple wool with cream ribbon.
Anyhow, last night I watched "The Terminal" with the 'rents. Then I took my iPod for a walk around the neighbourhood hoping to run into some ghosts. I'm thinking of going for a walk around the river this afternoon.
Right now I'm reading The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd and I'm enjoying it immensely. It revolves around some sisters who, among other things, have their own religion. I think it's called the Daughters of the Black Madonna. The story revolves a lot around worshipping the Black Madonna. Coincidentally, I read poritons of Tori Amos' book the evening before. Worship of Mary, and Mary Magdalene, was discussed a lot in this book too. Tori subscribes to a lot of the theories about the divine feminine (far before The Da Vinci Code was popular). A line in the from The Secret Life of Bees resonnated with me; something along the lines of everyone needs a god that looks like them to worship. All of this made me want to pray to a woman, so I said a lot of Hail Marys today at mass.
Well, I need to go send a birthday e-card right now. Then I'm going to take my iPod for that walk around the river.
