Right now I'm really into the new Weezer song "Beverly Hills". Would I be even more into it if I'd procured those Weezer tickets that I so desparately wanted?
Okay, I think I've mentioned my lack of Weezer tickets at least 73 times in my blog so far. And, I wrote a whole post on a freakin' Lululemon bag. Yeesh, if I was reading this, I'd think I was pretty damned shallow. I suppose this highlights the shallowness of my life outside my career. I'm thankful that I have a career that's devoting to helping others and hopefully, somehow, making the world a better place. And last year I built up some good karma working up in Northern Ontario in isolation. Of course, I did make money up there, some of which is funding my summer trip to Australia. So, I guess like a good Catholic, I feel guilty that I was renumerated for doing something somewhat, maybe just a little, selfless and hence I really didn't build up any good karma...
I think the reason that I'm thinking on this track is that my roommate's bf went on a trip to Africa and just offered to let me watch the DVD but warned me that it's pretty emotional. I said "perhaps on another day" because I was thinking that I couldn't handle any real reality today. Which got me to thinking about the community that I lived in last year. I wonder what people would say about the conditions if I had actually recorded them? When I took pictures, I made sure that they were about more picturesque aspects of the community, as opposed to harsh reality. I know I used that as a survival tactic since I had to deal with harsh reality on a daily basis up there so I didn't want to deal with it more by recording it at the time. However, the images in my mind are indeliable, so I'll always have them. I guess right now I'm regretting it since I can't share my experiences with anyone else. Well, in a visaul way; I'll always have my words.
