Got home this afternoon from some grocery shopping to find that the Pope died today at 2:37 pm EST.
I'm quite sad about this. More than anything, it makes me feel the loss of my grandparents acutely. It was the Polilsh-Catholic connection. During the World Youth Day mass in Toronto in 2002 the Pope talked about his age and sounded just like my Grandma.
I always admired the Pope for his commitment to peace and human rights. Also, I think his outreach to other religions was admirable and important.
